About the event

Marco Mazzoni was born in Tortona, Italy in 1982 and currently lives and works in Milan. He is a highly acclaimed artist who has held numerous exhibitions in the United States and Europe.

His works express a world based on Italian tradition, depicting the feminine beings of the Sardinian faith, the Jana or Kogas. These women symbolize seduction, charm, curse, and healing. He pays homage to the secret art of doctors, and each drawing includes a metaphor to tell the women's stories.

In addition, circular compositions suggest the cycles of nature, including depictions of medicinal plants, hallucinatory journeys, insects and birds, which are creatures of the natural world. The importance of the interaction between women and plants is emphasized, and the women's inner feelings and memories are expressed through depictions of fantastical and "impossible" animals and visions.

He paints as a type of still life rather than a portrait, and does not depict the subject's eyes, so he composes his work so that all elements are equally important. Please take a look at this work, which is a colored pencil drawing with great attention to detail, and which emits a deep brilliance through the overlapping of light and dark.
